UPDATE - Help to claim Coronavirus Job Retention Scheme 16th April 2020

Retention Scheme. Before the system goes life on 20th April 2020. This is an update how and when to access the system with more information about what you will need to have ready.

Employee eligibility for the scheme:

  • you can claim for employees that were employed as of 19 March 2020 and were on your PAYE payroll on or before that date; this means RTI submission would have been made on or before 19 March 2020
  • employees that were made redundant or stopped working prior to 19 March 2020, can also qualify for the scheme if re-employ prior to 19 March 2020 and put on furlough.

How to claim

As you prepare to make a claim, please note:

  • the online claim service will be launched on GOV.UK on 20‌‌ April 2020 
  • the only way to make a claim is online
  • can make the claim yourself even if you usually use an agent
  • claims will be paid within 6 working days; – any queries should be directed to your agent or representative.

Information needed before you make a claim

The following information is required before 20‌‌ April 2020:

  • a Government Gateway (GG) ID and password – if required one can apply for one online,
  • following information required for each furloughed employee:
  1. Name.
  2. National Insurance number.
  3. Claim period and claim amount.
  4. PAYE/employee number (optional).
  • For fewer than 100 furloughed staff – One will need to input information directly for each employee
  • For 100 or more furloughed staff – One can upload a file with information for each employee; in the following file types: .xls .xlsx .csv .ods.

If you want an agent to act for you

Please note:

  • PAYE authorised agents can act.
  • The agent need should know which UK bank account you want the grant to be paid into.

You should retain all records and calculations in respect of your claims.
